BYD became the top-selling battery electric vehicle manufacturer worldwide, overtaking Tesla in the fourth quarter of 2023. The company also holds the title of the best-selling car brand in China since the first quarter of 2023, surpassing Volkswagen. Its vertical integration strategy, involving lithium mining, lithium processing, battery production, and an in-house computer chip unit, has distinguished the company in this competitive landscape.
